Mortgage Tip #3: Closing Agents

This week’s mortgage tip concerns the closing agent. Currently, closing agents are not regulated by the State of Maine and need only be a notary to close a loan.

The closing agent represents the lender and my not have your best interests at heart. If the terms of your loan or your closing costs are not what you understood them to be, don’t feel pressured to sign the loan documents. Make sure that you are completely comfortable and fully understand your loan documents before signing.
